Tuesday I took a flight with Avianca Airline to Manizales, a town at 25 min of flight from Bogota or 8 hours of bus, so the choice was easy 😉
The good immediate feeling was that I quit the cold nights of Bogota, to go 600 meters lower in the cafe region. Also called “Eje cafetero”, this area of coffee culture concerns the towns of Manizales, Pereira and Armenia. Manizales is a nice town of 400’000 people, a lot more relaxed than the busy Bogota, where the best universities of the country are, that means a lot of life due to all the students. Funny thing I heard from the taxi driver of Bogota when I told him I was flying to Manizales.
“ooohh Manizales, man the girls there are incredible, you gonna love it”.
So It was a Tuesday night, but I have to say that even that the bars and clubs were pretty empty on Tuesday night, the taxi driver wasn’t wrong.
I was also impressed by the people being very open to either invite me at their table or ask to join me. So it was a cool good night where we also drunk a bit (if not a lot) of Aguardiente, the local alcool.
